A club for people
who are better in person.

Clementine's is a private members' club in London. One night a week the club takes a room across the city — the table is booked, the room is balanced, and the introductions are already made.

Admission

Membership is by application.

The club is small on purpose. Every application is read, and not every application succeeds — that is the point of a members' club, and the reason the rooms are worth being in.

  1. 01

    The application

A real name, a current photograph, and a sentence about what you do. It takes a few minutes and it is read by a person.

  2. 02

    The committee

One question is asked of every application: would the room be better with this person in it? Most of the work of a good evening happens before anyone arrives.

  3. 03

    The invitation

Successful applicants are invited to the next Thursday. Membership begins the evening you first attend, not the day you apply.

House rules

Five rules.

They are not guidelines and they are not negotiable. They are also the entire reason the club is a comfortable place to walk into alone.

The full rules →
  1. 01

Members attend as themselves — real name, current photograph, no exceptions.

  2. 02

The room is kept balanced. Places are held back so that it stays that way.

  3. 03

No member may write to another before they have met in person.

  4. 04

What is said in the room stays in the room.

  5. 05

Members who make other members uncomfortable do not remain members.

The rooms

Where the club meets.

Clementine's has no permanent address, and does not want one. The club keeps an arrangement with a handful of rooms across London and moves between them.

The Little Fox

Shoreditch

Snug back-room pub, board games behind the bar

Bar Cachette

Soho

Tiny cava bar tucked in a courtyard

Marigold & Vine

Clerkenwell

Small-plates spot with a chatty open kitchen
